07/11/26 - Four Gators Climb the Seven Sisters

I'm bedridden.

Friday evening, I was wrangled into a spontaneous Saturday trip to the Seven Sisters Cliffs with Ava, Lu, and Riley. We planned to hike the sprawling 13-mile trail from Seaford to Eastbourne along the British coast.

Saturday morning, we got up, packed our snacks, lathered on some sunscreen, and hopped on a 7 a.m. train to the coast!

We followed the herd of hikers from the train to the trailhead, and we were off!

I think we stopped feeling pain after mile eight. Even Manson Place stairs couldn't have prepared us for those inclines! The ice cream truck stop helped a little.

We lost count of the Sisters after number three. Apparently, the cliffs once served as navigation points for sailors and inspired some grim local folklore.

Before you see the next photo, please know that we only learned that we weren't supposed to go near the edge after trying to brag about these photos to our friends back in London. Apparently, the chalk cliffs tend to break off and fall? Hence the folklore. Sorry, Mom!

After conquering the Seven Sisters, we trekked through Eastbourne - a coastal hidden gem - to the station and caught the last train back to London. Lu got out her eye mask, and we all relaxed before the big quarter-final game that night.

Most of Flat 17 was at Studio 338 to watch England vs Norway. The club was souped up with a DJ, smoke machines, and confetti cannons for the match. It was surreal. We sang "Hey Jude," got beer thrown on us, and made some new friends.

As you can imagine, the Tube ride home was brutal. That was the most crowded train I'd ever been on - even worse than Canary Wharf during rush hour. We fought for a spot on the Jubilee line and booked it home to the showers, chanting...

It's coming home, it's coming home
It's coming, Football's coming home
It's coming home, it's coming home
It's coming, Football's coming home
It's coming home, it's coming home

Love,
Megan
